FRIENDS of a teenage female who was tragically killed in single vehicle crash in Derry have raised over £5,000
to help her relatives travel from Poland for her funeral today, Monday, September 17.

Laura Szewc was born born in Poland but raised in Derry.

The 18-year-old was killed in a single vehicle crash near Nixon’s Corner on the Letterkenny Road last Wednesday night.

Lauram, who lived in Cornshell Fields, was a passenger in a Vauxhall Corsa car which struck a tree close to the border with Donegal.

Two friends travelling in the car were taken to Altnagelvin hospital for treatment to their injuries.

Friends set up a crowdfunding page in the wake of the tragedy to help Laura’s family pay for funeral costs and assist relatives from Poland to travel over to Northern Ireland to pay their last respects.

The teenager’s family and friends have raised almost £5,000 of a £6,000 online target to help her relatives travel from Poland for her funeral service.

Laura was a student at the North West Regional College and also worked part time at the Travel Lodge Hotel.

Requiem Mass for Laura will place this morning at 10am at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Steelstown.

Laura will be buried afterwards in the City Cemetery.
