SINN Féin spokesperson on Education Karen Mullan and East Derry MLA Caoimhe Archibald met with officials from the Education Authority on pre-school provision in DungiveN.

After the meeting Caoimhe Archibald said: “A number of parents have been in contact with me and my office in relation to pre-school placement in the Dungiven area.

“After several calls back and forth with the Education Authority, we felt it would beneficial to meet and discuss these issues.

“We highlighted the concerns raised by parents, and the Education Authority informed us of pressure on placements in the Dungiven area this year due to a higher birth rate.

“We welcome that the majority of children have now been placed and would encourage parents to remain in the process.”
