Gales will become severe for a time through morning rush-hour, with some disruption likely.
However, forecasters say the gale-force winds will ease by this afternoon.
The Met office has already recorded winds around Magilligan hitting speeds of 62 mph.
Later today, it will turn brighter with a few scattered showers.
