SINN Féin’s Elisha McCallion has welcomed the decision to approve a planning application to build a new 152 hotel at the Ebrington site in Derry.

The Foyle MP said:

“I welcome the fact that the planning committee of Derry City and Strabane District Council have given approval for plans for a new hotel at Ebrington.

“The 152 bedroom hotel will enhance the fantastic appeal this city already has for tourists and could act as a catalyst for further development at the site.

“This planned hotel development is part of the overall redevelopment of Ebrington and will help attract more visitors to the city as well as creating employment locally.

“We have been working closely with the developers and the Executive Office to ensure that these plans for the hotel have come this far.

“I now look forward to further progress for this important development and to the start of building work on the site.”
