YOUTH clubs from across the city took to the Brandywell last Saturday, May 5, to compete in the inaugural Ryan McBride All Inclu5ive Cup.

Derry City Football Club say on its club page: “We would like to extend congratulations to all the teams who took part at the weekend with a special mention to Lincoln Courts FC who were deserving winners of the trophy.

“The Waterside team were excellent throughout the group stages and held their nerve to beat Long Tower Youth Club on penalties in the final.

“Thanks as well to the rest of the teams who showed some excellent quality and we hope that Newbuildings, Shantallow, Ballymagroarty, Bishop Street, Brandywell and the other clubs that we worked with will be back again next year.

“All those who took part in Saturday’s tournament will be guests of Derry City at Friday night’s game at home to Cork City.

“Both finalists – Lincoln Courts and Long Tower will play again at half time in that one and we hope they enjoy the experience in front of what should be a packed Brandywell.”
