Daniel McCrossan contesting West Tyrone by election for SDLP

THE SDLP says it has this morning reported to the Chief Electoral Officer breaches of the electoral rules in West Tyrone.

The party says that within hours of polls opening in West Tyrone Sinn Fein polling agents were found to be using electronic equipment in Strabane.
The SDLP has called for urgent action and for the public to report it immediately if they see anyone inside the polling station using electronic equipment including mobile phones, laptops and tablets.

An SDLP spokesperson said: “There has been a clear breach of electoral rules in West Tyrone as already this morning, the SDLP has had to report Sinn Fein polling agents who are using electronic equipment in polling stations.

“The SDLP has asked the Chief Electoral Officer to act immediately. There must be a zero tolerance approach to any breach of the rules that are in place to guarantee fair elections.

“All members of the public should report it immediately if they see anyone using electronic equipment in polling stations including mobile phones, laptops and tablets.”
