Ornaments and stattues wantonly vandalised in Strabane cemetery this morning

POLICE have branded as “disgraceful behaviour” the desecration of a graveyard.

Officers say they attended Strabane cemetery in the head of the town this morning following reports of criminal damage to ornaments and statues.

A police spokesperson said: “We had hoped this would not be the case however from the attached photos you will see that someone or some persons have taken it upon themselves to damage various ornaments and sentimental items belonging to loved ones.

“Causing damage to another’s property is wrong but to do so in a place which loved ones hold so dear is particularly concerning and clearly upsetting for family members some of whom we spoke to at the cemetery.

“If you have any information which can help us identify who is responsible please call us on 101 and quote reference 1550 27/4/18.

“Or alternatively call Crimestoppers anonymously on freephone 0800 555 111.”
