Concern of Rosemount residents over incidents ahead of the summer – Cooper

SINN Féin Councillor Mickey Cooper has said that residents in the Rosemount area are upset after a number of incidents of anti community activity in the vicinity of Creggan Burn and the steps adjacent to Baldrick Crecent at the weekend.

Councillor Cooper said: “At the weekend we seen a number of incidents of anti community activity in the vicinity of Creggan Burn and the steps adjacent to Baldrick Crescent.

“I have asked the City council to continue to use a local security firm who had been tasked with locking the gates at Baldrick crescent and at zigzag steps at weekends.

“The council had proposed that the Baldrick gates were no longer locked from this weekend onwards  as a new lighting scheme had been installed but that I have asked for the gates to continue to be locked until this is resolved.

“Residents are rightly worried that with the bright, warm summer nights approaching that this sort of thing will increase.

“I hope a collective approach with the PSNI, Council, youth services and the local community we can reduce episodes of this type of activity taking place,” he added.
