Burglary Campaign - Nov 13 a

Cllr Paul Fleming and Chief Inspector John Burrows launch the anti-burglary campaign.

DETECTIVES are hunting a gang behind a spate of burglaries in recent weeks across Derry.

In the latest break-in, detectives are investigating a burglary at a house in the area of Maybrook Mews of Pennyburn last Thursday night, February 22.

Investigating officer Detective Sergeant Reid said: “It was reported that sometime between 4 pm and 8 pm entry was gained to the property and a sum of cash and jewellery including gold rings, chains and earrings stolen.

“Detectives are appealing to anyone that may have witnessed any suspicious activity in the area during the past week to contact Detectives in Strand Road on 101, quoting reference 1291 22/2/18.

“Or, alternatively if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.”

There has been a recent spike in burglaries across Derry.

Householders should lock all windows and doors in an effort to keep burglars out.
