A NUMBER of families have spent the night out of their home because of a security alert in Derry.
Police were called to Ederowen Park in Galliagh late on Wednesday night.
A number of homes in the area were evacuated.
The alert is expected to last until later on today, Thursday, December 14.
Insp Jonathan Hunter said his priority was the safety of the community.
“I would like to thank residents for their patience.
“Our priority at this time is to ensure the safety of everyone.”
