THE Western Trust’s Foyle Disability Resource Centre recently held an event to celebrate the fantastic work taking place in the Day Centre.

Primarily for adults between 18-64 years of age with a physical or sensory disability and /or brain injury, the Centre provides a variety of therapeutic, social, educational and recreational activities, striving to promote personal development and improve the quality of life for all its members.

Chairman of the Western Trust, Niall Birthistle said: “I am delighted to welcome centre members, families, carers and the local community to this annual celebration event. I would like to pay tribute to the wonderful staff at Foyle Disability Resource Centre who go the extra mile every day to support service users and their families to reach their full potential.

“I wish everyone involved in this Centre continued success for the future.”

Kevin Murray, Acting Manager of Foyle Disability Resource Centre said: “This is an opportunity for everyone to participate; observe and applaud the individual and collective talents of our members who attend the Centre. Members showcased their crafts, artwork and inspirational messages; and in doing so represented, in their own way, their talents, creativity and personal journeys.

“We continue to strive to improve the services and support provided for our members.

“We have been listening to our members and through feedback took the opportunity to change the name of the Centre in order to incorporate the vision of seeing the person rather than the disability.

“We are very proud to unveil the new name of ‘GlenOaks’ and would like to thank everyone who has supported the Centre throughout the past 45 years.”
