MAYOR of Derry City and Strabane District Council, Cllr Maolíosa McHugh, will host a special tea dance this Sunday, December 3, to celebrate Creggan’s 70th anniversary.

The tea dance will be held in the Creggan Sports Hall, Central Drive, from 3pm to 5pm.

Mayor McHugh said: “All of the tea dances which I have hosted during my term in office have been such popular events – packed with some of the best dancers in town!

“They also provide me with a great opportunity to enjoy time with some older members of our community.

“I am always amazed at their energy and sense of fun – which is an inspiration to all!

“I am therefore delighted to be hosting a very special tea dance to celebrate Creggan’s 70th anniversary – and to mark this major milestone with some of the older members from the local community.

“Indeed, from past experience, I have always found the people of Creggan to be so wonderfully warm and good-hearted – and who also have a great sense of humour!

“I therefore have no doubts that it will be a hugely enjoyable experience – and that we’ll see a fantastic turnout for this very special event.”

Music at the tea dance to celebrate Creggan’s 70th anniversary will be by ‘Legacy’ and refreshments will also be provided.

If you would like tickets for the Mayor’s special tea dance on Sunday 3rd December in the Creggan Sports Hall, please contact Karen Henderson on 02871376527 or email [email protected]
