STRABANE SET TO BE ‘DAZZLED’ THIS WEEK AS SANTA ARRIVES

CHRISTMAS will officially begin in Strabane this Saturday 25 November from 1pm-5pm when the festive lights are switched on by a ‘very special guest’ in Abercorn Square.

‘Santa’ will be making the long trip from the North Pole to visit the town – but there will also be a host of other fun activities on the day itself!

The festivities include live music on stage by Mr Men from 3pm, featuring local performances by Darcie Wilders & Jamie Donnelly and the Holy Cross Choir as well as interviews with James Gallagher (The Strabanimal) and the one and only centenarian in town Pat Gillespie.

Don’t forget to also keep any eye out around the town for Class Acts Carol singers, Encore PAA Dancers and a new samba/jazz band from Arts Academy.

After visiting the Christmas craft market in the Alley courtyard and Santa in his grotto why not call around and get your photo taken with Santa’s reindeers – or meet some of his naughty helpers at work!

If it’s too cold, you can always drop into the Alley to the Christmas movie at 2pm and write your Christmas letter & help make some reindeer food before you go!

Make sure you also visit Strabane for an amazing afternoon and stroll around the town centre – including listening to Mrs Claus tell tales on her bus. Street entertainment, Strabane Brass Band, balloon modellers, face painters and fun characters will also add to the fantastic festive experience!

Remember the grotto will finish at 3.30 pm sharp as Santa has a very important job to do.

Please also note that in order to accommodate the Christmas Lights Switch On ‘main event’ on Saturday, November 25,  there will be traffic diversions in place in Strabane Town Centre between 12:00-18:00.

The council has apologised for any inconvenience this may cause.
