RTE’S European Affairs editor Tony Connelly speaking in Derry tomorrow night about Brexit and how it will affect Ireland

THE Holywell Trust will host a discussion on Brexit featuring Derry author and RTE’s Europe and Current Affairs editor Tony Connelly.

The event, entitled “Brexit & Ireland – An Evening with Tony Connelly – will be held at the Holywell Trust tomorrow, Tuesday,  November 21 at 6.30 pm.

It has been organised to coincide with the launch of Tony’s new book “Brexit and Ireland: The Dangers, the Opportunities, and the Inside Story of the Irish Response.”

Gerard Deane from the Holywell Trust speaking ahead of the event says the Trust is delighted to host the event and to give the Derry public an opportunity to be part of a discussion on the complex issue of Brexit and the impact it will have on the North West region of Ireland.

He said: “We are very pleased that Tony has agreed to give this talk on what is a very important topic for people in the North West.

“As the European Affairs editor for RTE and having lived in both Derry and Brussels, Tony is in a very good position to give us a unique insight into some of the issues faced by our region as a result of Brexit.

“We are delighted that he has taken time out of his busy schedule to travel to his home town to take part in the discussion and to give us an overview of his experience and an insight into how Brexit may impact Ireland and in particular the Derry/Strabane/ Donegal region. ”

The discussion event will be chaired by Eamonn Deane and will feature a Questions and Answer Session.

There will also be an opportunity for members of the public to purchase signed copies of the book.

Members of the public interested in attending the event are urged to register in advance to assist with catering arrangements as a buffet meal will be served from 6.30 pm.

To register email [email protected] or Tel. 028 7126 1941.

The event is part of the Holywell Trust’s Good Relations Programme supported through The Executive Office’s Central Good Relations Fund.
