DERRY’S Guildhall is set to host its annual Guildhall Craft Fair on Friday 10 to Sunday 12 November, when the best of local and regional craft produce will be showcased as part of the city and district’s unique Christmas offering.

Over 40 high-end craft producers and exhibitors have signed up to exhibit in the stunning setting of the Gothic building to offer the North West’s largest range of contemporary and traditional crafts for sale.

The Craft Fair marks the start of the City and District’s hugely exciting Christmas campaign and is one of the most popular events in the events calendar renowned for its unique setting and array of high-end products.

Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District Council, Cllr Maolíosa McHugh says the Guildhall Craft Fair is the perfect start to Christmas offering locals and visitors the chance to browse and purchase something that little bit different in a unique shopping experience setting right in the heart of the city.

“The annual Guildhall Craft Fair marks the start of a series of festive events in the city in the run up to the Christmas period, and once again the quality of the local and Ireland wide produce and craftsmanship are outstanding, these talented crafts people are getting ready to welcome in excess of 4,000 of visitors to the Fair over the weekend.

“It’s the perfect chance for the Council to showcase local and visiting talent and to encourage entrepreneurship and creativity,” he said.

The Guildhall Craft Fair runs from 10-12 November and opening times are Friday (12 noon to 7pm), Saturday (10am – 6pm) and Sunday (11am – 6pm).

Admission fee is £1 per adult and free for children under the age of 14.

A series of workshops, music and events are also programmed over the weekend as part of the Christmas festive experience.

New to the offering this year is the addition of a small number of food stalls on the ground floor that will enhance the overall festive experience.

Helena Hasson, Events Co-Ordinator with Derry City and Strabane District Council says the Craft Fair is a very popular event with the public and a key part of the Council’s initiative aimed at showcasing the craft industry and enhancing the Christmas experience for residents and visitors.

She said: “We are delighted to see returning exhibitors and newcomers wanting to be part of this event to showcase their work in the vast halls of the Guildhall.

“The annual craft fair marks the start of our Christmas campaign and the festive retail offering and we are delighted to have craft producers exhibiting everything from textiles, knitwear, jewellery to wood craft, glassware and stationery.

“The range of exhibits at the event is very diverse with something to suit all tastes and budgets and is the perfect start to the Christmas festive cheer,” she added.
