East Derry MLA Caoimhe Archibald

SINN  Féin MLA Caoimhe Archibald has welcomed an update on the time-frame for the repair of the Claudy bridge damaged in the August floods.

Speaking following a meeting in the Diamond Centre, Claudy, the East Derry MLA said:

“DfI Roads officials outlined the plans to repair the Ballynameen bridge in Claudy and the temporary measures to be put in place.

“They also outlined an expected time-frame of six months for the work to be completed.

“The meeting which was attended by concerned business people and residents provided clarification on the works to take place and allowed those present to express their concerns and put forward suggestions.

“The commitment to keep the local community updated on progress was very welcome.

“An update was also provided on the Glenrandel bridge in Craigbane which was completely washed away in the floods.

“It is currently in the design phase to determine the works necessary and an estimated time-frame won’t be possible until this is completed.

“Myself and Cllr Paul Fleming have been in regular contact with Roads Service regarding damage to roads and bridges in the Claudy, Park and Craigbane areas since the flooding and will continue to engage with agencies to ensure the residents concerns are addressed,” she added.
