SINN FEIN DELEGATION ATTEND THE UNISON NORTHERN HEALTH BRANCH MEETING TO OPPOSE CUTS

East Derry MLA Caoimhe Archibald

SINN Féin MLAs Caoimhe Archibald, Declan Kearney and Philip McGuigan attended the Unison Northern Health Branch meeting today in opposition to proposed cuts to services.

Speaking at the meeting, East Derry MLA Caoimhe Archibald said: “Sinn Féin is against the proposed cuts to health and social care services.

“The Trust proposals are completely contrary to the transformation agenda set out by Michelle O’Neill as Minister for Health.

“Cuts would undermine any real transformation of health and social care in the north of Ireland and can only serve to put the health system, and particularly staff who are already working in increasingly challenging circumstances, under further pressure.

“It is clear from the Unison meeting today, and from other public meetings I’ve attended, that cuts will have a serious impact on patient safety and standard of services.”

“I would encourage all those opposed to cuts to services to have their say by putting in their response to the Trust consultation in their area before October 5.”
