SINN Féin Education spokesperson Karen Mullan has welcomed an admission from the Education Authority that special educational needs transport travel times were unacceptable.

The Foyle MLA said: “During a meeting with the Education Authority on Friday we raised our concerns surrounding special educational needs transport times and made it clear that current travel arrangements were unacceptable.

“I welcome the fact that the Education Authority listened to our concerns and acted accordingly.

“No child should be subjected to excessive travel times

“The Education Authority now need to clarify that no child’s health and safety was put at risk as a result of actions taken by the authority and the very serious incidents which occured as a result.

“I would urge any parent whose remains unsatisfied with their child’s transport arrangements to contact the authority immediately.”
