SINN Féin Councillor for the Greater Culmore area Tony Hassan is calling on the residents to get involved with the community consultation which is to start on the 23rd September at the new Culmore Country Park on the Coney road.
Cllr, Hassan said: “The Culmore Community Partnership in collaboration with Derry City and Strabane District council are running a Family fun day on Saturday 23rd of September.
“This will be one of the biggest fun day festivals in the city this summer and the Mayor Maoliosa Mc Hugh will be officially opening the country park and start the consultation looking at what the public would like to see in the park.
“The consultation will last for a number of months and will be run in different locations in the Culmore area, it will also involve the local schools in the area and I would ask as many people as possible to get involved in the consultation.
“The Culmore Steering Group was established in late 2014 to explore the development of an integrated Sport, Recreation and Community Facilities Plan for Culmore. Comprising of local residents,
“Community and Voluntary Sector, it has now developed into the new Culmore Community Partnership which has prioritised key projects and have been working closely with a range of Officers within Council to progress these.
“The progression of the Culmore District Park -Landfill Site Masterplan which is now in place has agreed the development of a 3G pitch facility at Thornhill college and the development of a Community Centre for the Culmore area.
“Sinn Féin believe all these projects have the potential to transform the social and physical infrastructure within the Culmore area, and meet the considerable needs of the community.
“The new GAA club Cú Chulainns that has been set up in Culmore will go a long way to help loads of activities for the kids in the area.”
