POLICE IN DERRY ‘SPOIL THE PARTY’ FOR UNINSURED DRIVER AND HIS STOLEN CAR

The stolen car being driven by an uninsured driver seized by police in Derry

POLICE in Derry are jubilant at taking another uninsured driver and his stolen car off the roads in the city.

The driver of the stolen car had given the Gardai in Donegal the slip yesterday before crossing the border into Derry before he was eventually detained by police.

In a post on its Facebook page, PSNI Foyle said:

“Sometimes we really do spoil the Party 🎉

Ballyarnett Neighbourhood Team 👮🏻 saw a fella we know to be uninsured driving 🚗 but he made off from us TWICE and made off from the Gardai during his border hopping escapade.

“We lost him in Springtown Industrial Estate but thankfully a member of the public called us 📱 to say the man had ditched it outside ‘The Party Warehouse’ and run into the store.

“CCTV shows our man walking intently round the store talking loudly on a phone 📱 pretending to discuss what Party Produce 🎉 he needs.

“This suddenly stops as he is picked up by another ropey car 🚗

“He’s no Robert De Niro and he kissed his party goodbye.

“As we seized his car 🚗 and he then turned himself in at Strand Road.

“Forget the Red Carpet he got to walk the dull grey entrance to the Custody Suite.”
