INSTITUTE FC has launched a crowdfunding page to help raise £5,000 to help with repair work to the Riverside Stadium, caused by flooding on Wednesday, August 23.

Derry took the brunt of a thunder and rainstorm which cause major flooding across the city and county.

So far, £1,775 has been raised – 35 per cent towards their target.

The club said: “Institute FC stadium has been extensively damaged with the recent flooding.

“The club which operates under a limited budget is asking for help for the local community, business and the wider football community to donate to help get the ground back to a suitable condition to host Irish League football.”

The Irish FA has contacted Institute FC to offer assistance after the club suffered flood damage.

At Institute’s Riverside Stadium in Drumahoe the pitch, the changing rooms and the stands were all badly affected.

Irish FA Chief Executive, Patrick Nelson, said:

“Institute FC has been hugely affected by Wednesday night’s floods and the damage caused has been devastating.

“We have been in contact with representatives of Institute FC and have offered any assistance that the Irish FA can give to help the club rebuild and recover.”
