Derry Sinn Fein councillor Eric McGinley

SINN Féin Councillor Eric McGinley has welcomed the Council’s appointment of the principal contractor for the pitch and play park project at Shaw Court in Ballymagroarty.

Councillor McGinley said: “The announcement of the contractor’s appointment will be warmly welcomed by the community in Ballymagroarty.

“It represents a highly significant step towards the realisation of a much needed facility for the area.

“And it is a testament to the hard work carried out by the Ballymagroarty Community Association in partnership with Derry City & Strabane District Council.

“The resources for the pitch and play park largely came from the Executive’s Social Investment Fund which was driven by Martin McGuinness and the project will be a fitting legacy when it is completed.

“I am delighted to have been involved in supporting the development of this project on behalf of Sinn Féin and I look forward to the very near future when the children of the area can at last access first class play facilities,” he added.
