FOLK GROUP LORE AND NIAMH MCGLINCHEY TO BRING SWEET MUSIC TO ALLEY THEATRE

LOCAL folk group LORE have confirmed they will play at Strabane’s Alley Theatre on Saturday 19th August, alongside talented singer songwriter Niamh McGlinchey as part of their joint 2017 tour.

The musical duo share a wealth of awards and acclaim from the music industry and audiences can expect a night of beautiful songs, delivered by outstanding vocalists and a plethora of supreme musicians.

LORE, who made the debut at the Alley Theatre in 2016, hail from Dungiven and have just released their highly anticipated new EP. In 2015 they were nominated for ‘Best Irish Act’ for a second year by the Pure M Awards.

The indie-folk group have gained acclaim and recognition nationally and have been championed by the kings and queens of the airwaves.

The dynamic five piece have been play listed consistently on local and national mainstream radio and have wooed audiences with their enigmatic live performances supporting both upcoming and legendary Irish acts such as; Mary Black, Ciaran Lavery, The 4 of Us and Cara Dillon.

The 2017 tour sees the release of Lore’s newest collections of songs.

This new addition to their catalogue sees the merging of the quintessential folk styling’s of the first two EPs with an edgy contemporary indie production.

Niamh McGlinchey is a folk/country singer-songwriter from Co. Derry.

Her career began when she won an All-Ireland title for her rendition of “Raglan Road” back in 2008. She then went on to represent the North in RTE’s “All Ireland Talent Show” and her singing and presenting career has blossomed in the years since.

She has supported iconic Irish acts such as; Daniel O’Donnell, Bagatelle and Frances Black and has spent the past three years touring across Ireland and the UK supporting Nathan Carter.

Her latest and third album, ‘Dear Someone’, comprises of an eclectic mix of covers and original songs.

Jacqui Doherty, Venue Manager at the Alley Theatre said; “The Alley Theatre is a perfect setting for this concert. A beautiful arrangement of songs and music will fill the auditorium and have the audience wowed from start to finish.”

Speaking about the upcoming performance Carol Ann Carlile from LORE commented: “Our 2017 tour is the culmination of three years of writing and performing our hearts out.

“It will showcase our journey as artists and deliver a night of entertainment that our audiences will never forget… We are absolutely thrilled and honoured to be playing again at The Alley Theatre”
