SHOPPERS attending the Strabane Market on Friday 28 July at the Alley Theatre Courtyard are encouraged to visit the Doorish Arts and Crafts stall showcasing its unique range of bespoke oil paintings and wonderful wooden handmade wall plaques.

The Strabane Market is a monthly market organised by Derry City and Strabane District Council on the last Friday of every month from 11am to 4pm.

One of the stalls currently taking part in the Market is the Doorish Arts and Crafts company, owned by Christine Doorish, who creates unique oil paintings and handmade wooden plaques.

Christine is a well-known local artist and has had many very successful exhibitions both locally and internationally showcasing her unique talent for land and seascapes as well as animal and child portraits.

She diversified to create wooden wall plaques with personalised messages. Most of these are humorous but they can also be sentimental and meaningful.

Taking part in the Council’s Market in Strabane and the Walled City Market in Derry is a great opportunity for Christine to get her company name out into the local community.

She says that while the market is only recently established she is really looking forward to being part of it and reaping the benefits of the wider profile.

She said: “It’s a great way of working as part of a team with other stall holders and gives me an opportunity to showcase my products, and letting people see the work I do and how much I love doing it.”

“I have been involved in art for many years, selling oil paintings and wooden handmade plaques and to be part of the Market is a great opportunity for us to get our brand out there and to showcase our products.”

Doorish Arts and Crafts is one of a number of traders taking part in this month’s market. Others include Granny Knitter, Crepes N Coffee, Kennedy Bacon, Felim O’Neill Antiques, Cavanagh Art, Shivon Soap, Nitted Things, Bake N Joy and Coffee & Cream.

Encouraging the public to come along and support the Market, Nicolle Walters Market Development Officer with Derry City and Strabane District Council said it’s a great way of supporting local businesses.

The market takes place this Friday 28 July from 11am to 4pm.

Following on from his appearance in Britain’s Got Talent, Guinness World Record holder, Ryan Duff of Duff Balloons will be making a special appearance from 2pm to 4pm.

The next Strabane Market will take place on Friday 25 August while the next Walled City Market will take place in Derry on Saturday 05 August from 11am to 4pm.
