THE Alley Theatre is getting ready to ‘rock’ as its ‘The Arts Academy’ prepares to host an exciting ‘Summer School of Rock’ programme from next week, beginning Monday 17th July and continuing until Friday 21st July.

A limited number of places are still available on the week long programme, which is open to children aged seven and above and budding musicians are now being encouraged to join up, have some fun and be emerged in the world of music.

Gerry Strawbridge from the Arts Academy said it is a perfect opportunity to develop the creative talents of young people and may even produce the next Chris Martin or Ariana Grande.

With activities including guitar and drum lessons, singing/songwriting training, music reading, rhythm games, digital recording and uploading, there is certainly something for everyone.

Gerry added, “We can’t wait until next week, the response has been incredible and we are now busy planning the fun activities for the week ahead.

“This course is designed to nurture confidence and bring out the best in the young people taking part, both on and off stage.

“Children can learn and explore the technical musical requirements and lighting and sound essentials for stage and outdoor performances from the professional stage technical staff at the Alley Theatre, who will be on hand to demonstrate and provide support to participants.

“It will encourage creativity, as well as effective communication, planning and teamwork skills and ensure a great deal of fun is had by all! Plus there may be even future opportunities for participants to perform in upcoming productions by the Arts Academy.

“Once the preparations and training are completed those taking part will be given the opportunity to then perform live in front of their family and friends in a perfect rock’n’roll setting – the big stage at The Alley Theatre!”

A light lunch will be provided each day of the ‘Summer School of Rock’, which takes place at the Alley Theatre from Monday 17th July until Friday 21st July.

The five day programme costs is £50.00 per rocker and discounts are available for group bookings. Activities will begin at 11.00am each day until 3.00pm.

The summer school is facilitated by Gerry Strawbridge and David Oliver and is brought to you by the creative production team of The Arts Academy – creators of sell-out shows ‘Balo Balo’, ‘Gutz’, ‘Mulan’ and ‘Spook House’.

Spaces are limited and early booking is advised.
