HOT on the heels of a sell-out Belfast performance, local musician Lauren Bird is set to perform live at The Alley Theatre this Saturday 15th July, as she debuts her new album ‘The Inbetween’ to an audience in her home town of Strabane.

Lauren’s album, ‘The Inbetween’ which is described as ‘full of heart’, has received highly acclaimed reviews since she released it in May earlier this year.

She began her career performing at open mic competitions around Belfast and later released a six track self-titled EP in May 2014, which went to number one in the Band Camp Acoustic Chart within a day of its release.

After reaching the final of the 2014 Dawsons Music Singer-Songwriter Competition, she secured a slot at the Belfast Nashville Songwriter Festival, where she shared the stage with Grammy winner Don Henry.

And Lauren has continued to gain recognition within the industry, winning the Chordblossom’s Kickstart Competition in 2015, receiving the runner up spot in the 2016 Guinness Versus Competition and gigging all over Northern Ireland, Manchester and Liverpool.

Speaking ahead of her gig at the Alley Theatre this weekend Lauren said, “I am really excited about performing in my home town.

“This will be my first show in Strabane and I can’t wait to perform in The Alley Theatre.

“A full band will be performing with me and I am delighted to have support from local songwriters, Emer Maguire and Darren Doherty alongside Donegal band ‘Great White Lies’.

“It’s going to be a great night and suitable for all ages. I look forward to seeing you there!”

In winning the Chordblossom’s Kickstart Competition, she joined the ranks of previous winners like ‘SOAK’ and fellow Strabane act ‘Those Ghosts’ and had the opportunity to record a single at Millbank Studios, perform at Stendhal Music Festival and have a music video made by Dog Kennel Productions.

Lauren has since performed at Swell Festival, supported New Zealand band ‘Hannah in the Wars’ and performed at the Northern Ireland showcase gig in London.

After meeting producer Cormac O’Kane in London they began working together on her debut album ‘The Inbetween’ and launched an Indiegogo campaign to raise 105% of funds needed to record it, before releasing it on 8th May.

Lauren Bird will perform live at the Alley Theatre this Saturday 15th July in the cabaret style auditorium.

Doors open from 7.30pm.

Tickets cost £10.00 and are available from the Alley Theatre Box Office on 028 7138 4444 or online at www.alley-theatre.com.
