THE Alley Theatre in Strabane will host a special disco this Friday night, July 7th, tailored to suit adults who have limited physical, learning and sensory ability.

The Energy of Light Disco is funded by the Public Health Agency and forms part of a wider programme of inclusion being rolled out by Derry City and Strabane District Council.

Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District Council, Councillor Maolíosa McHugh, said the monthly event was a welcome addition to Council’s growing programme of inclusive events.

“The Energy of Light event is a great opportunity for adults who wouldn’t normally have the chance to attend a disco because of limited physical, learning and sensory ability to let their hair down,” he said.

“If previous events are anything to go by it will be an evening filled with plenty of fun, giving attendees a chance to meet new people and maybe show off some of their dance moves.

“The Energy of Light concept is one that has been embraced by numerous groups in the Derry area and it is hoped that it will be just as successful in Strabane.”

Friday’s event if from 7.00pm until 9.00pm on Friday 7th July 2017 has music old and new, from Abba and ELVIS to Nathan Carter and Katy Perry.

Admission is £3 and as part of Derry City and Strabane District Council’s commitment to developing an Access for All strategy, carer’s and parents will be admitted for free.
