Former Derry Sinn Fein press officer Dale Moore who died on last year aged 52

A ceremony will be held today in the City Cemetery to remember a Derry Republican who passed away in December of last year.

Dale Moore will be remembered this afternoon with the unveiling of a new headstone at his graveside in the new lower section of the Cemetery.

Councillor Kevin Campbell said: “Dale was well-known and respected throughout Ireland.

“He was an inspiration to many of us, despite his failing health he didn’t complain, he got on with what needed done.

“In his graveside oration, Sinn Féin stalwart Mitchel McLaughlin said that Dale, like many of his peers, when needed stood up with courage and determination for what they believed in.

“He was a dedicated, good-natured, lifelong republican activist. And that’s how we will always remember him.

“I would urge all those who knew him to come along on Saturday for the unveiling of his new headstone at 2 pm.”
