Rest in Peace Ryan

THE family of the late ‘Captain Courageous’ Ryan McBride announced today that they were setting up a foundation in his memory.

The Ryan McBride Foundation has been set up to help young people in Derry achieve their full potential.

The announcement was made today members of Ryan’s family at the The Everglades Hotel in Derry.

A news conference was told at the launch of the foundation that it would work to “support, assist and inspire young players to achieve what Ryan achieved”.

A huge amount of money was raised through a Crowd Funding online page for his grieving family to help them with his funeral costs.

But today his sister Caitlin said the money was too much and they wanted to put it to a good cause and came up with the idea of the Ryan McBride Foundation.

Ryan’s memorial foundation will work in partnership with the club he followed as a boy and played for as an adult, Derry City FC.

There are also plans to develop a scholarship in Ryan’s name.

Ryan died suddenly last month at his home in Derry which lies in the shadow of the Brandywell ground.
