MORE THAN 200 jobs have been announced for Derry today with the confirmation from a local company that full planning permission has been granted for a major new £50m development in Culmore.

Taggart Homes has been given the green light for the first phase of a development involving 211 new homes.

The company has committed to completing the homes to the highest standard “equivalent and better to anything available in gated communities in the United States”.

A spokesperson for Taggart Homes said today: “This is the most anticipated development announcement in the city in more than a decade.

“We have already received more than 2,000 enquiries for the development.

“The confirmation of full planning permission today is a major boost for jobs and local businesses with staff, contractors and suppliers in the local area.”

Taggart Homes says 2017 will see the completion of 300 homes by the end of the year on its sites since starting back in business 24 months ago.

The spokesperson added: “The company is currently on site with four developments and has sold more than 100 homes since the beginning of 2017.

“Each home is finished to the highest possible specification with quality inside and outside each property only seen in high-end gated communities in America.”
