CALLING all dance and music lovers – if you don’t want to be left on the edge of the dance floor throughout the City of Derry Jazz and Big Band Festival, why not sign up for some free Dance Workshops and learn how to strut your stuff in style?

Places are already filling up fast for the four week programme, which takes place in both Derry and Strabane in the build up to the celebrated musical extravaganza set to take over the city throughout the May Bank Holiday weekend.

The dance workshops will be held in the Guildhall every Tuesday during April and at the Strabane Community Library every Wednesday.

The workshops are free and are perfect for those of you who are keen to get your dancing shoes on and try out a range of jazz dance moves to a variety of music rhythms including swing, jazz and boogie-woogie.

Classes are available on a first come first served basis and booking in advance is essential. The dance workshops have been a huge success to date and are a fantastic way of getting into the festival fever.

The City of Derry Jazz and Big Band Festival is now in its 16th year and is once again offering music lovers a fantastic programme of live music. Taking place between 27th April and 1st May, the Festival is the North West region’s most anticipated and talked about social event of the year.

“We are delighted to welcome back a number of festival favourites and welcome for the first time a variety of hotly tipped Jazz acts from across the globe. The Council, as organisers of the Jazz Festival, are delighted to bring live music acts to over 70 venues and featuring over 200 musical acts over the Bank Holiday weekend,” Andrea added.
