SINN Féin Councillor Tony Hassan has called for parents in the Culmore area to ensure that their children are not caught up in anti-community activity taking place in the vicinity of the Ballynagard Play Park.

Councillor Hassan said “We have received a number of complaints about anti community activity in the play park there and the affect this is having on residents who live adjacent to it.

“A number of issues have been raised such as trespassing, property damage, broken windows, noise and abusive language.

“There are groups of young people gathering there and this can be very intimidating for those residents.

“I will be visiting the site and talking with  council officials to see what can be done here to lessen the issues raised by residents.

“I would urge parents in the area to ensure that their children are not getting caught up in this.”

Concluding, Cllr Hassan said: “Culmore is an area crying out for facilities the last thing we want to see it having to close or restrict access to ones that are there.”
