BILLY AND CHARLOTTE CALDWELL UNDERTAKE 150 MILE JOURNEY TO RAISE FUNDS FOR JOURNEY

Charlotte and Billy Caldwell

BILLY Caldwell, the battling young boy who suffers from life-threatening epilepsy, has embarked on a 150-mile journey to raise funds for his treatment.

His mother Charlotte is walking the full journey, with Billy taking part along the way.

They began the long trek from Castlederg on Tuesday and will arrive at the Royal Victoria Hospital on Wednesday.

It is in a bid to secure access to medicinal cannabis oil for Billy, a treatment that saw his seizures top for six months when he received it in America.

“This is the boy that they sent home to die,” Charlotte said.

“For me as his mum, I just can’t let that happen, I’ll never give up on him.

“The walk is for the medicine that is actually controlling Billy’s seizures at the moment, which is CBD with THC (medicinal cannabis oil).

“Basically I’m trying to get the RVH doctors to recognise that this is the medicine that is controlling the seizures and allow me to bring him home from Los Angeles indefinitely.”

On her Facebook, Charlotte said:

“Folks, take a good long look at this wee Epilipsy Warrior, Billy.

“This is the boy RVHB sent home to die!

Sent him home for Palliative Care!

“Give him up for dead!

“Wanted to administer Morphine to end his life!

“Wanted me to donate his wee brain for research!

“Wanted me to help them end his life.

“Wanted me to put him in a coffin and have a funeral, and then they would give me his Brain 6/8 weeks later to put in the ground with him! 😢

“But I would not give up on Billy.

“I will never give up.

We both have endless hope, endless faith and endless love for one another!

“Here he is today walking tall, head high and heart strong, 150 miles to Belfast to beg for his right to live!

“He is begging they regonise the Medicine that is keeping his life threatening seizures away! MEDICINAL CANNABIS 🌿

“Medicinal Cannabis has given me back my right as a mummy to hope, but the most important thing, it has given Billy back his right to life.

“We need our wee country to come out and support him, stand up and make the change!

“Medicinal Cannabis for all who desperately need this Medicine.🌿💜
