TWO ARRESTS AND THREE HOMES SEARCHED IN DERRY OVER DISSIDENT REPUBLICAN TERROR ACTIVITY

DETECTIVES from the PSNI’s Terrorist Investigation Unit have have arrested two men as part of a probe into dissident republican activity in Derry.

The 36-year-old and 49-year-old were detained by TIU detectives on Tuesday.

Three homes in the Creggan areas were also searched as part of the operation.

The suspects, who were detained under Section 41 of the Terrorism Act, have been taken to the serious crime custody suite in Belfast for questioning.

The men can be held at Musgrave PSNI station for up to 48 hours before they are either released or charge.

Police can also apply to a judge for an extension to their detention.
