VANDALS TORCH TRAFFIC LIGHTS AT MADAMS BANK ROAD – MCCALLION

February 27, 2017

SINN Féins Elisha McCallion has condemned the latest wanton vandalism that took place at traffic lights at Madam Bank Road at the weekend.

Local residents raised the alarm and a fire crew from Crescent Link responded and put out the blaze.

The former Mayor of Derry: “These lights have been repeatedly attacked since they were introduced in 2012.

“They provide safety for pedestrians, particularly children going to school.

“This is also a major road which services several housing developments and carries a high volume of cross border traffic.

“I am appealing to whoever is carrying out this nonsense to stop. Attacking any sort of road safety measure is placing the lives of motorists and pedestrians in danger.

“It is local people who are suffering and their lives being disrupted by these senseless incidents and that is something no one wants,” added Cllr McCallion.
