tourism-derrySINN Féin MEP Martina Anderson has said tourism can help develop and promote Derry’s economy.

Ms Anderson said: “I was delighted to welcome US Ambassador Matthew Barzun to Derry last week.

“We walked on the city’s iconic Peace Bridge and walls and then visited the Museum of Free Derry at its temporary home as well as the site of the new museum, which is currently under construction with the help of EU funds.

“When completed, the modern facility will add immensely to Derry’s tourism appeal, as well as playing a key role in telling the story of the city.

“Derry’s history is known across the world and more and more visitors are coming to the city to learn about our past, helping drive our economy in the process.

“Tourism is a key growth area for the city and wider north west region and one we should be supporting and encouraging.”
