DRIVER ARRESTED AFTER TEENAGE BOY DIES IN CO DERRY HIT-AND-RUN CRASH

Police traffic patrolPOLICE are questioning a driver after a teenage boy died following a road traffic collision yesterday evening.

The boy was struck by a white coloured car at around 6.30 pm at Newbridge Road in Coleraine.

He was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

The white car failed to stop at the scene of the collision and was located in the Magherafelt area several hours later following police enquiries.

A 23 year old man has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving causing death and a number of other offences.

He remains in police custody this morning.

D/Sgt Wallace has appealed for anyone who witnessed the collision or who has any information to contact police in Coleraine or officers at the Collision Investigation Unit on 101.
