RESIDENTS in Ballymagroarty are urged to speak out over plans to build 120 new homes in their area.

There is only a few left for residents to give their views on the plans with the closing date today, Friday, November 25.

Ballymagroarty Community Empower says on its Facebook page: “A developer has applied for planning permission to build 120 houses at the top of Ballymagroarty.

“This is on a piece of land designated under the Derry Area Plan 2011 for Recreation and Open Space but is right beside land zoned for housing at the other side of Whitehouse Road.

“A new access road will be built at the back of Ennis Place, John Field Place, O’Riada Court, Harty Court and the houses will be built beside Raftery Close and MacNeice Close.

“If you live in any of these streets you will be affected.

“We’ve been contacted by residents in some of these areas who are concerned that this development could go ahead without proper consultation with local residents.

“Have your say – but you need to have it before Friday 25th November.”

Any resident who has a complaint about the development is asked to leave their address via a private message to BCE and a representative will call out with all the relevant information.
