GAA player Kevin ‘Kingsy’ King will be laid to rest today (Tuesday) after he tragically died last week.

The 22-year-old – affectionately known as ‘Kingsy’ – took ill during an indoor football match at Campsie on Thursday, November 3.

He was tended to at the scene by paramedics before being transferred by ambulance to Altnagelvin Hospital.

But tragically medical staff were unable to safe his life and he passed away.

Kevin was a leading member of Slaughtmanus GAA club and his death has stunned the local community.

Friends from Tamnaherin Celtic GAC have flown home from a trip to China to be pay respects to their popular and much loved player.

His remains returned to his family’s home in Eglinton on Sunday.

Requiem Mass will be held at St Mary’s Church in Tamnaherin at 12 noon.

His family have asked that donations can be made to the British Heart Foundation in lieu of flowers.
