gay blood banTHE Blood Transfusion Service will be in Derry this week looking for urgent donors.

At this time of the year, blood stocks are in high demand across the health service.

You give blood at Waterside Methodist Church, 36 Clooney Terrace this Friday, October 28.

Session times are:

1.30 pm to 4 pm and 5.15 pm to 8 pm.

You can also give blood at Doire Colmcille’s based in Lowrys Lane on Thursday, October 27.

Session times here are 2.30 pm to 4 pm and from 5.15 pm – 8 pm.

SDLP councillor Shauna Cusack is encouraging the public to give blood.

She said: “Our health services are in constant need of a steady supply and so I encourage everyone to make the effort to attend.

“As the unit is on many people’s doorstep this makes donating blood even more convenient.

“I’ve been to the unit before and the staff are always very welcoming, doing their utmost to make donors feel comfortable.

“Giving blood is a simple way that anyone can save a life.

“You can never know when your life or that of a loved one may depend on the generosity of a blood donor,” she added.
