COOPER WELCOMES NEW ACTION PLAN OVER ROSEMOUNT DUMPING

mickey-cooper-aberfoyleSINN Féin Councillor Mickey Cooper has welcomed a meeting he had with the council which discussed how to deal with long term dumping issues in the Rosemount area of the city.

He said the proposals emerging would deal strategically with a problem he has been trying to resolve for a long time.

Councillor Cooper said: “I welcome the meeting with council which has seen a number of new proposals emerge.

“These will include bulky lifts of household items several times a year, a one off collection of both blue and black bins to remove any excess household waste in residents properties and an exercise in a number of strategic partners to establish the owners of properties where dumping is emanating from but for which we have no ownership details.

“Other actions will include work to fast track new council powers to allow heavier fines and enforcement patrols in the Rosemount areas.

“I will be informing all residents of the dates of the first bulk lift and one off blue/black bin collection in the coming weeks.

“I have also arranged for the council to liaise with the Glen Development Initiative (GDI) to act as a point of contact for residents who require household items to be disposed of by council but who have difficulty in arranging suitable times and locations with council for their collection.

“All of these measures should address many of the problems which have bedevilled the area due to the irresponsible actions of a small minority,” added Cllr Cooper.
