Dean Jarvis and Aaron McEneff delight manager Kenny Shiels by signing new contracts at Derry City

DERRY City say it is delighted to announce that Dean Jarvis and Aaron McEneff have signed new deals.

Jarvis will remain at the Brandywell until at least the end of the 2017 season, while McEneff has signed a two year extension.

Boss Kenny Shiels was delighted the pair have decided to stay at the Brandywell.

“They are two Derry lads which makes it even more impacting on the path way which we are taking,” he said.

“Both of them have had fantastic seasons.

“One’s 23 and one’s 21, They are the ideal type of player we are looking for in terms of their age and how well they have come on this season.

“I’m absolutely thrilled to bits to get these two in and we are continuing to talk to other players in the squad, as we are building for the future.

“We already have Gerard Doherty, Barry McNamee and Ronan Curtis signed up for next season, so that’s now five signed up.”

As for McEneff he’s delighted to have signed his new deal, which keeps him at the Brandywell until at least 2018.

“It’s good to get the contract signed and now I can concentrate on playing,” said the midfielder.

“It is a big commitment but it’s one I’m happy to make and Dean has signed a new contract as well.

“We have got good players at the club and we have had a good season so far and hopefully we can finish it off well.”

While Jarvis is happy to get his future sorted for at least one more season.

“To be fair this has been my best season so far.

“I’m just delighted to get something sorted quickly, because the last few times it has been dragged onto January, so like Aaron I’m happy it’s now sorted,” admitted the defender.

“It’s Kenny’s (Shiels) first season in and it was always going to be a two or three year plan to get where we want to be and a few of the boys have signed new deals, so we are planning for the future.

“We have some top quality young players coming through like young (Conor) McDermott, so the future is looking bright.”
