mumia-abu-jamalSINN Féin MEP Martina Anderson will meet with campaigners for imprisoned journalist and former Black Panther Mumia Abu Jamal.

Ms Anderson is supporting the campaign for him to get access to medical treatment while in prison.

The Sinn Féin MEP said;

“Former Black Panther Mumia Abu Jamal has become a well-known journalist through his prison broadcasts and books written since his imprisonment for murder in 1981.

“He has always protested his innocence and Amnesty International has raised concerns that he did not receive a fair trial.

“I will be meeting his lawyer and other campaigners to give my support to the campaign for Mumia Abu Jamal to receive medical treatment for Hepatitis C while in prison.

“Along with 70 other MEPs I have signed a letter calling for him to receive medical treatment now.

“All prisoners are entitled to be treated with dignity and respect.”
