MAYOR'S TEA PARTYTHE Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District Council, Alderman Hilary McClintock is inviting older people from throughout the district to come along to a Mayor’s Tea Dance.

It will take place next week at the Guildhall on Wednesday, September 7 from 2 pm until 4 pm.

The traditional tea dances are held at the historic Guildhall on the first Wednesday of each month.

They were initiated ten years ago and remain hugely popular with residents and visitors to the city and are attended by people from all walks of life, including individuals, community groups and tourists.

Speaking ahead of the event, the Mayor said:

“I’m really looking forward to hosting my first tea dance as Mayor of the city and district. I’ve heard so much about how enjoyable these dances are and it will be great to have an opportunity to chat with everyone who comes along.

‘The Mayoral tea dance is a great way of bringing older people from all communities together and it is my honour to host it.

“It’s an opportunity to come along each month, enjoy our beautiful Guildhall, meet people, enjoy some dancing, music, tea and cakes and have some fun.

“On Wednesday 7th, we will have music by; the 3’J’s, John Trotter & Co, Legacy Band and Midnight Sun.

“The invitation is open to all citizens, community groups, and visitors to the city and I look forward to welcoming everyone.’’

Tickets for the Mayor’s Tea Dance are free.

They are available from Council Offices by telephoning Andrea Campbell on 028 7137 6545.
