Aileen Reid.

THE whole of Derry will be cheering on one of its famous sporting daughters this afternoon in the Olympics.

Aileen’s form this year hasn’t been great so far.

But the Derry woman says that’s because she’s been aiming to peak at Rio 2016.

A disappointing experience in London, when she came off her bike, four years ago make her very determined to fulfil her potential this time around.

Her triathlon event starts at 3 pm this afternoon.

Once the Games are over, she’ll be moving lock, stock and barrel from Ireland to Australia’s Gold Coast.

We wish her good luck for today and for the future.
