PARENTS are being urged to be vigilant for their children after strong pain killer tablets were found lying in a Derry estate.

The warning has been sounded by the Ballymagroarty Community Empowerment whose members found the Maxitram opioid tablets while out on a walk through the estate last night.

The tablets are used in the treatment of moderate to severe pain.

BCE say: “On our community walk this Ann and her super eyesight noticed a few white tablets on the ground they looked a little like tic tacs.

“So we searched around that area and found the packet which turned out to be maxitram 50mg prolonged-release capsules.

“These looked like sweets to me so i have no doudt they would have looked like sweets to a child.

“Is it going to be the death of a child before everyone gets up and plays a part in our community?

“For me I would rather take the danger away before something like that happens.”
