The car seized in Lettershandony last night by a local policing team

POLICE in Derry continue to crack down on vehicle crime across Derry.

Last night officers from the Local Policing Team 5 were alerted to a silver Volkswagen Passat saloon car whizzing around in the Lettershandony area of Eglinton.

It was later seized and could now end up being crushed.

A police spokesperson said: “A vehicle seized from Lettershandony by LPT5 last night after five young males made off from vehicle abandoning it.

“The vehicle had been reported to police as causing a nuisance in the area a short time earlier.

“It was located outside Mullabuoy Primary School with young children playing in the area.”

Police inquiries to to locate the five youths continuing.
