The people of Galliagh turned out on last Friday night to protest over spiralling anti-social behaviour

THE residents of Galliagh in Derry are being urged to come out and show their support for a group protesting about ongoing anti-social behaviour in the area.

The first protest was held last Friday night and the Galliagh Community Empowerement (GCE) has deemed it a “big success”.

Now GCE want more people to come out and lend their support and join the protest this evening at 7.30 pm at St Joseph’s Chapel (White Chapel).

A message on its Facebook page states: “Let’s make this GCE event the biggest one yet our numbers grew with the last one which was an amazing turn out thank you to all who attended.

“The success of what we have achieved so far speaks for itself, galliagh has been quieter and we have seen less incidents.

“The patrols we do are a big part of that, being visible on the streets has sent a message to those who wish to disrupt our area, these small antisocial elements see us coming together to stand United against them and it is working.

“Be part of our successful Events, help make Galliagh a safe place for our children.

“Even if you feel you can’t walk around with us come out to the meeting point and share your concerns or just to show your support hope to see you all there.

“Thank you.”
