THE people of Galliagh are fed up.

Now to show their disgust a protest is to be held in Derry tonight against the spiralling anti-social behaviour in the area.

The event is being staged by the recently-formed Galliagh Community Empowerment (GCE).

Tonight’s protest follows the burning of two stolen cars in the area over the past two nights.

Last night, a car was abandoned and set on fire in Ballyarnett County Park.

A car was torched in the Skeoge Road area the previous night (pictured above).

It followed the report of three teenagers spotted trying to break into cars in the Slievemore area although it is believed the car was taken from the Galliagh area.

The CCE has called on the people of the area to come out and support tonight’s protest, taking place at St Joseph’s Church at 7.30pm.

In a message on its Facebook page, the GCE said: “We are asking every single resident/activist who is concerned about there community and the men woman and children in it to turn out tonight at 7.30 pm at White Chapel and show these anti social elements they are not welcome in our area.

“People are afraid to come out of there door because of these scum,

“Now’s the time to take a stand and take our community back as a community AS ONE.

“Please share.

“All welcome.”
