THIS stray cat is now safe in a Derry rehoming centre but it still bears the scars of a sicking attack by thugs.

The cat, now named Leah, was found with severe damage to her poor ears.

She has been given sanctuary in Rainbow Rehoming Centre in Eglinton after she was found with her two kittens after members of the public reported a stray in the Ballynamore Road area on Thursday.

In a Facebook post, staff at the centre said that Leah had two “badly damaged ears” but that she was receiving the treatment she needed.

“We received a phone call yesterday from a concerned member of the public about a stray cat that had been hanging about for quite some time.

“We are appealing for people in the area to help with any information.

“She was found in the Ballynamore Road/The Cross, Derry with very badly injured ears along with her 2 surviving kittens.

“We have named her Leah and she is receiving the necessary treatment.

“Any information please contact us.”
